Frequently asked questions..........
1) Why did Chris lie about being with Fred Moss prior to his disappearance?
When Chris found out that Fred Moss had not returned home on the evening of 30th November he understandably became worried. Travellers have a reputation for taking the law into their own hands and Chris was worried about reprisals towards him, and most importantly towards his family, if it were to be found out that he was with Fred shortly before his alleged disappearance. When he was taken in for questioning as soon as he was able he admitted to being with Fred on the 30th November and was subsequently charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and remanded into police custody.
2) Chris has been offered a free lie detector test.....why hasn't he taken it?
It is quite true that Chris has been offered a free polygraph test. He himself is very keen to take this test, however arranging for a polygrapher to go into prison and do the test is not as simple as it may appear. The polygrapher has to be given security clearance, (which in this case was done), he then has to arrange for a visit which take the form of a legal visit, which in turn has to be arranged by a solicitor. In legal aid cases such as this, funding for a legal visit has to be paid from legal aid. Due to the fact that polygraph test results are not admissable evidence in a UK court of law legal aid funding is unavailable for this purpose. Chris's solicitor at that time could not or would not help to arrange this test so it was unable to go ahead. There have been some case in which a polygraph test has been taken by prison inmates such as Jeremy Bamber and Michael Shields, this was done on a pro bono (fee free basis) by their solicitors. However Chris now has a new solicitor and should he, in the near future, think that a polygraph test would be a way forward in this case then I am sure the test will be taken and the results of such a test will appear on this website.
