WHO IS FRED MOSS?
Fred Moss is a member of the travelling community.
He was born on 28th May 1983, making him 21 years old when he went missing from home.
Although happy to class himself as a traveller, his home was a static caravan on a site, situated at Sawbridgeworth, in Hertfordshire, which he shared with his parents, Kathleen and Leonard Moss. He spent the winter months in and around his home, often spending time with his aunt, Miss Hannah Read, who lived on a caravan site, situated at Stanstead Mountfitchet, in Essex.
His family consists of two brothers, George Moss who also lives at Sawbridgeworth and Len Moss Jnr, who also goes by the names of Len West and Len Webb. Len lives in Cambridge with his 2nd wife and children. Fred also has a sister Hayley, and a brother-in-law John Hart, who also live on the site at Sawbridgeworth.
The summer months he spent working in France, running a business which, is said, that he set up himself, tar-macing drives, forecourts and such. He returned home fairly frequently during the summer months, mainly at weekends, but was primarily living in France.
His hobbies consisted mainly of hare-coursing and socialising with other travellers. He had apparently just bought a building plot in Chatteris, for the sum of £90,000 cash and was planning to have a house built for himself.
Whilst his family insisted that his coursing exploits were only done legally with permission from farmers, many farmers in and around Hertfordshire, as well as in many other areas, are plagued with illegal hare coursers.
His description reads, 5' 9" tall, green eyes, mousy hair, and a goatee beard. His first language was English although he could speak French fluently. He was very softly spoken, stocky build and possibly weighed around 16 stone.
When he went missing he was wearing a green jacket, checked shirt, black trousers and black boots.
